Business Diamond Course

Our approach in this course is unique, as we serve as whistleblowers, alerting students to potential challenges and risks they may encounter in their professional journeys. Rather than traditional teaching, this course fosters critical thinking by encouraging students to question and reflect independently. It’s structured as a dynamic debate, where we exchange ideas, share insights, and actively engage with students' perspectives. Essentially, it’s a business-oriented group discussion that promotes open dialogue and mutual learning.

.As a newcomer to the diamond wholesaling industry, yet operating a reputable jewelry showroom, what strategies can you employ to confidently engage with a trader, ensuring that your lack of experience remains undisclosed? How can you negotiate a favorable deal and present yourself as knowledgeable and proficient in the field to create a strong impression?

.If a close friend and trusted trader urgently needs to leave for a flight and has asked you to collect a diamond packet from his home for crucial delivery to your customer, how should you professionally and efficiently handle this situation, considering both of your time constraints?

.As an expert diamond jeweler, when a trader presents you with a packet of diamonds, what strict protocols should be followed?

.What are the ideal shape, size, and quality characteristics to consider when selecting diamonds for investment purposes?

.Can I purchase high-value diamonds without a bill? Absolutely not. Why is this the case?

.What should be the ideal price range for diamonds? Is there a minimum price below which a deal cannot be finalized? Are there benchmark prices for diamonds? Additionally, why do we see varying prices online for diamonds of the same quality (e.g., 1ct F VVS1 Excellent Cut ranging from $7,000 to $13,000)? If all parameters are identical, does this price discrepancy indicate potential dishonesty?

.If you have a 1ct F VVS1 Excellent Cut diamond with a GIA certificate, and the inscription matches the certificate number perfectly, are there still any possibilities for manipulation, particularly with larger-sized diamonds?

.How should you communicate with traders and jewellers when visiting jewelry shows or exhibitions? How can you create a positive and respectful atmosphere, even if you do not make a purchase, and earn their respect?

.At exhibitions, what are the key do's and don'ts to follow? How can you avoid making costly mistakes?

.You receive a call in your showroom from a well-known customer who has sent a jewelry bill/estimate via WhatsApp. The bill includes details such as the gold price, wastage, making charges, diamond/stone price, and GST. Typically, customers try to negotiate everything, including GST. How do you convince them to pay the GST without hesitation? What is the best possible approach to ensure the GST is paid without any question?

.A customer brings a bill showing no wastage, no making charges, a substantial discount on diamonds, and a gold price lower than yours (despite the fact that gold prices are generally consistent nationwide). If they present similar bills from other jewelers, how would you convince them to buy from you after they've received such attractive deals elsewhere? Is it truly possible to persuade them?

.What is the significance of an IGI certificate in the diamond jewelry industry?

.Is investing in diamond jewelry a wise financial decision, or does it carry potential risks that make it a less favorable option?

.What is the significance of updating your WhatsApp status on a daily basis? How does it impact your communication and engagement with contacts? Is this practice generally regarded as beneficial, or could it lead to potential downsides? What factors should be considered when deciding how frequently to update your status?

.Many people believe that purchasing diamonds graded as D/IF (Colorless/Internally Flawless) or D/FL (Colorless/Flawless) is a good investment or a great deal. However, is this perception accurate? What are the true commercial implications of buying diamonds with these high grades? How do factors such as market demand, resale value, and individual preferences influence whether these purchases are genuinely advantageous? Additionally, what should consumers consider when evaluating the overall value of D/IF and D/FL diamonds in comparison to other options on the market?

.Once a customer enters our premises, how should we interact with them? Can we assume that they will make a purchase, or should we approach the situation differently? Even if they don’t buy anything at that moment, what strategies can we employ to emotionally connect with them, ensuring that we remain their top choice for future purchases?

.Is it wise to criticize and belittle competing jewelers in front of a customer? What might be the unintended consequences of this approach on both my reputation and customer trust? Could focusing on my own strengths and building positive relationships prove more effective in the long run? How might this strategy shape customers' perceptions of my brand, and what lasting impact could it have on their buying decisions? Ultimately, what values do I want my business to represent in the eyes of my customers?

.When a customer brings in jewelry they purchased for a good amount from a nearby jeweler, how should I respond? What steps can I take to make the customer feel appreciated and respected? How can I engage them in a way that highlights my own offerings without criticizing their choice? What can I do to build a positive relationship and encourage them to consider me for future purchases?

.If a customer responds to my estimate for a solitaire diamond by saying they can get it for a fraction of the price from a nearby jeweler, claiming that my prices are unreasonably high, how should I address this situation? Given that the diamond I offered is of genuine quality, what is the best way to respond to highlight its value and differentiate my offerings without dismissing their concerns?

.What is the concept of offers in the jewelry business, and how do they function? Are offers an effective strategy for attracting customers? Considering that many jewelers choose not to provide offers, how can I implement them successfully while still maintaining profitability? Am I compromising on quality by offering discounts, or is there a way to balance attractive pricing with the high standards my brand represents?

.There are claims circulating in the market, such as "The jeweler cheated me." How could such a situation arise? Is it truly possible to be deceived without my own involvement in the process? Moreover, is it ethically justifiable to place all the blame on the jeweler alone?

.Can a jeweler fully trust gem laboratories and rely solely on their certificates, given that the jeweler is the one directly responsible to the customers? Are the results provided by these laboratories consistently reliable?

.Is it advisable to trust a brand without question? Can they consistently deliver exceptional products, even when charging premium prices?

.Is it possible for consumers, jewelers, and laboratories to detect counterfeit certificates? If so, how can this be accomplished?

.An unknown customer purchased a diamond from you, complete with a certificate, paid all taxes, and received no discounts. After a year, the customer returned with the same packaging and certificate, requesting a return or a cash refund due to financial need. If you offer to refund 50% of the purchase price or provide a discount, and the customer agrees to this arrangement, how can you verify that the returned items are indeed the same goods originally sold?

If you later discover that the customer has cheated you, can you file a police complaint? Will it be effective in resolving the issue?
